Inside the Triple Collagen Mask: What Every Ingredient Does

Most masks tell you they contain collagen. Very few tell you how much, what kind, or why it's there. So here's the full walk-through of our Triple Collagen Plumping Gel Mask, ingredient by ingredient: the ones that do the heavy lifting, and the ones that make the heavy lifting possible.

The number first: 11.76% collagen

Every sheet carries 11.76% hydrolyzed collagen. Not "enriched with." Not a sprinkle near the bottom of the list. That's more than any other mask we know of, and if you're comparing, it's a fair question to ask any other mask for its number.

The percentage matters because collagen in skincare isn't a label word, it's a dose. But a big number alone isn't enough. What kind of collagen, and what size, decides what it can do. That's why this mask uses three.

Three collagens, three jobs

1. Hydrolyzed soy collagen: the one that gets in

Intact collagen is a huge molecule, around 300,000 Daltons. Skin's outer barrier generally only lets through molecules under about 500 Daltons. Our hydrolyzed collagen is broken down below that threshold, small enough to travel where intact collagen can't. And because it's derived from soy, it brings isoflavones along with it: plant compounds studied for the way they signal skin to keep producing its own support, the same signaling that fades with age.

2. Human-identical Type III: the baby collagen

Type III is the finer, more flexible collagen that young skin is full of, and one of the first types to decline. Ours is human-identical and grown by fermentation, not sourced from fish or cows. Because its structure matches the collagen your skin already makes, your skin recognizes it as its own.

3. Collagen extract: the one that plumps tonight

The third form works right at the surface. Collagen is a natural humectant, and this extract draws in and holds water so fine lines look softer and skin looks fuller within hours. It's the result you see in the mirror when you take the mask off, while the other two keep working at a deeper level.

The water system: 15% glycerin and two hyaluronic acids

Glycerin is the least glamorous ingredient in the formula and one of the most important. It's among the most studied humectants in skincare, pulling water into the outer layers and helping the skin barrier hold on to it. Many moisturizers use a few percent. This mask uses 15%, which is why skin feels cushioned rather than tight once the gel comes off.

Dual hyaluronic acid means two sizes working at two depths. Sodium hyaluronate, the larger molecule, forms a moisture-holding film on the surface. Hydrolyzed sodium hyaluronate, broken into smaller pieces, reaches into the upper layers. Together they help skin stay hydrated long after the mask is gone.

The gel itself

The mask is 34 grams of hydrogel in two pieces, an upper and a lower, so it follows the curves of your face instead of floating over them. Its body comes from Chondrus crispus, a red seaweed also known as Irish moss, which sets into a cool, flexible gel that grips skin and holds everything in place for hours.

That hold is the point. A serum or cream sits on your skin for a few minutes before it's absorbed or rubbed away. A hydrogel keeps its ingredients in contact with your skin for one to three hours, and three hours is the full treatment. A touch of niacinamide and galactomyces ferment filtrate round out the formula, supporting a more even, rested-looking tone.

SkinKlean tip: Don't judge the mask by the first twenty minutes. The surface plumping shows up early, but the hours that follow are when a high-collagen formula has time to do its fuller work. If your evening allows it, give it the full three.

What we left out

A formula is also defined by what isn't in it. The Triple Collagen mask is:
